Origami is an exquisite and complex art, not only full of the beauty of mathematics and geometry but also a test of the creator's spatial understanding, imagination, and the dexterity and stability of the hands. Dutch artist Pascal van der Graaf started origami at the age of four, and started creating at the age of six. In 2021, he was invited by a public art project to design paper sculptures, deconstructing bears, turtles, and rabbits into a combination of triangles and hexagons, and designing sparkling 3D baby bunnies, baby owls and kittens.

The life and culture of Taiwan nourished the creative energy of the artist. From the myth of Mid-Autumn Festival and the full moon, Pascal saw the jade rabbit pounding medicine at a glance. Therefore, he ordered a hexagonal frame and color-changing paint, and created the Jade Rabbit in the Moon with triangles and hexagons. The combination of triangles not only presents the illusion of a cube, but also has an infinitely extended visual effect. He keeps designing, and these thoughts and experiments bring him infinite surprises and fun.

While thinking about exhibiting these works, in order to make the exhibition more exciting and abundant, we contacted the Taiwan Origami Association. President Zhang Yanduo immediately agreed and entrusted member Huang Chenming to organize it with us. Chen Ming is not only superb in skills and considerate, but also his love and dedication to origami is fully revealed in the process of cooperation. During the preparation process, many members enthusiastically participated with great ingenuity and creativity, and many members even came from far and wide to personally deliver their works to the exhibition venue.

The exhibition, titled "Unfoldinging the Universe", conveys that origami intends to use mathematical geometry to understand and express the essence of the universe. A total of 15 origami enthusiasts participated in this exhibition of nearly 60 works, including Pascal's two hexagonal paintings – ‘Golden Moon’ and ‘Blue Moon’, two 3D bunnies, and a life-sized violinist created by Chen Shihao, a member of the Origami Association, Dai Ximin's four pots of orchids, seven beautiful mosaics by Lian Chongxin, and many animal and geometric shapes created by members.

Using a piece of paper, without clipping and splicing, just by folding, everything in the universe is transformed. While we admire the superb skills of these origami enthusiasts, we are also amazed at the ingenuity of the art of origami.
